"Please, father!"
"For the last time, no, Dominic. Why do you even want to set out? Galar is dangerous and you're weak, and don't even have a pokémon."
The boy still tried, to no avail, to convince his father to set out on a pokemon journey across Galar. Although Dr. Kingsmith's concerns were valid in Dom's eyes, he still felt like there was so much to see about Galar beyond Circhester. He wanted to learn about everything the region had to offer, having seen nothing of it even after four years living there, and-
"This is because of that Pikachu, isn't it?"
Dom flinched, averting his gaze from his adoptive father.
"Don't bring Eli into this..."
"You've even named it." Janus put down his newspaper, standing up and looking at his son with an air of dissapointment as he towered over the teen. "You must stop this foolishness, Samuel. If you want to help people, study harder. Don't think of silly things like being a trainer. Now go to sleep, your tutor comes tomorrow early and I want to read more before work."
"...Yes, father."

Quiet sobbing could be heard in the dark room, right until there was rustling coming from a window. With it left open, a small Pikachu was able to make its way into the room, climbing onto the bed and worriedly poking at the boy laying on it.
"Pika?"
"Eli..."
The wild pokemon found itself in a hug as the boy sobbed, nuzzling itself against him. "I can't do it, Eli... I'm gonna be locked up here forever..."
"Pika?"
"What? I can't do that, Eli... It'd be dangerous... and i'm weak..."
"Pika!"
"You'd protect me, Eli? But I don't even have a pokeball for you..."
"Pika! Pika Pika Pika! Pika!!!"
"You're right... If I don't know anything about the world, how am I going to be able to help...! It's decided. Father has left... It's our chance!"
Dominic quickly rose from bed, preparing things he would need tfor his journey across Galar. The best way to see the region would be the Gym Challenge, for sure. He broke his piggy bank, getting all the money he could scramble for. "We need a pokeball for you, Eli." The pikachu nodded, helping her soon to be trainer pack things up. When they were both ready, Dominic climbed out of his window, careful not to fall down to the street. After a pokeball and a train ticket, Dom and Eli embark to Wyndon, the last place his father would think him to be... and a place to reorganize and sign up for the Gym Challenge.
