[GYM] Vander v. Roark

Vander walked in forward to the battlefield, staring at all the details that made this gym so... unique and vibrant in it's own light. His palms were sweaty, knees weak as he kept moving while heaving, for some reason all that was stuck in his mind was his mom's spaghetti, he looked visibly ready on the surface as his vision remained focused on the Gym Leader.

It was one shot, one opportunity, he remembered all the notes he had written over the years, all the battle lyrics he had prepared to get himself in this very moment. No more games, it was the real deal for him to overcome.

He just let himself imagine that his friends were sitting nearby to offer their support and that thought made him smile, calming his inner spirit enough to step it up and look defiant against his opponent.

Vander pulled out a Poke Ball and threw it on the air, letting his Turtwig to come out. "I'm here, let's do this, Roark!"

Vander pulled out his second Poke Ball and threw it, smiling. From it, his own Pikachu popped out and let out a cheerful cry as he sparked up his cheeks in excitement for the battle. "Montblanc is my next Pokemon!"

He could already feel the stares on him as Montblanc appeared on his side of the field, it was a terribly weird decision from his part to be sure... Why wouldn't he use Soma for the battle? It was perfect as how it was.

"Well, Gym Leader, you're up!" He punched the air in front of him, signaling how ready he was.

Vander flinched at the velocity used by Cranidos to crash on his Turtwig, taking a step backwards as if he had taken the hit himself. His Pokemon shook his head, crying out loud in sign of defiance against his opponent, which made Vander recover his spirits. "That's right! We are not gonna be pushovers, show him your Razor Leaves!"

Ike shook his head several times in a circle, a pair of sharp leaves like a pair of blades suddenly shot out of his head, aimed directly at the Cranidos.

Both Vander and Ike braced themselves for the blazing impact, his Pokedex already beeping sounds of alarm as the stream of fire grew closer to them. Then at the last second, Vander sliced the air with his arms with a grin on his face. "Lunge to the side to dodge it!" Ike let out a smirk, allowing his weight to carry him in the wind as he threw himself right to the side, his hard shell doing all the heavy work to make sure he escaped the attack without an injury.

"Now, Leech Seed while he recovers!!" Ike dragged a bit against the ground before opening his mouth and shooting a stream of small, invading seeds upon his opponent. Should they reach him, they would sprout and grow vines around his body to drain his energy.

Vander cocked his head and let out a large grin adorn his face, lifting his eyebrow in amusement. "Dodge it again!" He was getting bold and cocky, able to see Roark's movements like if he was playing a video game. Ike obeyed without question, smirking too at how suddenly Cranidos might've gotten.

The blonde shrugged. "C'mon!! It can't be this easy!! Use Curse!" Maybe... Just maybe it was getting over his head.

Ike started to let steam out of his body as a reddish aura enveloped him, increasing his offense and defense.

Vander crossed his arms as he still kept his smile on his face. "This isn't nothing, take it on!"

Ike braced himself, crying in pain when the flames reached and enveloped him fiercely, but even despite that he stood his ground and remained firm, like a tower against his opponent.

"What a champ, now use Razor Leaf!" Ike coughed a bit of smoke, but nonetheless shook his head as hard as he could and threw a pair of leaves at Cranidos

Vander's eyes widened up the moment he saw Roark's Onix towering over him and Ike, a scary and intimidating sight for the two of them for sure, for some reason she seemed way more impressing than the Onix they had to defeat back at the mines. The blonde could feel the anger inside those big eyes, but managed to perk up a smile when the Razor Leaves impacted her, hurting her greatly.


"Double-Edge."

Vander's enthusiasm turned out to be short lived as he and Ike saw the behemoth lunge herself at full power. His Pokedex beeped towards the impeding danger, but he remained firm in his position as he fixed his nose.

"Tank that hit!"

Ike braced himself for the impact, wincing and getting dragged behind when he got hit as the massive strength behind Onix proved to be enough to lift rubble and clouds of dust from the ground. His trainer wasn't able to smile though as he realized that tanking that move was a bit too much for them to handle, his Dex beeped with Ike's dwindling HP, and the Turtwig was showing signs of getting exhausted.

"I've got an idea! Chomp her horn!"

Dumbfounded and astonished, Ike could almost waste precious time pondering what was running inside his trainer's head. Instead he broke from the struggle from the Double Edge and jumped as far as he could to latch on Onix's horn with a powerful Crunch.
