The Eterna City Gym's exterior was surrounded by plant-life, the windowsills decorated with vibrant flowers and neatly cut hedges kept a fenced in appearance. Even the inside lobby housed potted ferns and flowers, incense lit and an aroma of both smoke and herb and spices filled the room.
Once inside the arena, the scent only strengthened, almost dizzying with the combination of fresh flowers, mulch, and incense that wafted up the noses of battlers and spectators alike. In the center of the arena was Gardenia herself, her hair masking her profile as she watered a patch of flowers. Sensing Loretta approach, she turned her head and offered a soft smile, setting down the watering can and tossing her hair out of her face.
"Ah, so you must be Loretta, yes?" she said, her tone whimsically light but still firm. "Thank you for tending to my garden. Those pesty little Kricketots are always making a mess."
With a sigh, she turned on her heel to speak more directly to Loretta. "But nonetheless, you've done me a great service. I'd like to repay it with a battle."
"You choose first, of course. And as you should know, Gym battles do not allow for potions of any kind, but if your Pokémon have items they are holding onto, that's fair game. Also, given I don't see the glint of any other badges, you should also know that you will choose two Pokémon, and they may switch out at any time."
With that, she turned on her heel and walked toward one side of the arena, taking her spot. "Take you time. And do not underestimate me, dear. The Grass-type is not nearly as weak as some may believe."
