STRANDED
The final bell rang out and groups of students emerged from the classrooms. A small group a girls exited, one being smaller than the other two.
"Man, Professor Fowler when on forever!" A brunette exclaimed, clearly tired from the long session.
"I thought I was going to fall asleep" The other yawned.
"I'm just glad we're on a three month break, right Callie?" She turned around and looked to the young girl who was holding her Meowth. Lost in her thoughts, she jolted and looked up at her classmates.
"h-huh? O-oh yeah." She smiled. The other girls looked to each other than back to Callie, brows raised. "You okay?"
Callie nodded, hugging her pokemon. "I'm just a little nervous about the flight home. Its really scary up there." She smiled, her face blushing a little. "But I'm excited to see my parents again!"
The girls continued to the lockers to get their bags and books before saying their goodbyes.
"Attention all students. We have an emergency assembly so please make your way to the assembly hall."
Callie paled slightly getting a bad feeling about that. She hugged Meowth tightly, his purring tried to calm her nervousness. "A-an emergency...about what?" She looked to her classmates who were leaving that school. "Ah you guys!! Thats the wrong way!"
"Sorry Cal, we're not spending our vacation time listening to some announcement."
"We got shopping to do! I'm sure its something stupid like the bathroom was overflowed."
Callie tried to speak up but she didn't have the bravery to stop them. Sighing, she watched as they snuck out of the school and left to shop. "Crookshanks...what if its a real emergency?"
"Meeew" He purred, snuggling into her arms more. "Right...lets go." She turned and followed the students and towards the hall.

With the seats filling up, Callie sat at the second row from the front with Crookshanks in her lap. Looking around, several other students were whispering, some on their phones and there was a few whispers of an explosion. Before she could get anymore words from the rumour, the vice principal took to the stage with a paper in her hands.
"Sorry everyone, I know you want to head off for your breaks but this is an emergency. I'm not sure if you have heard yet but communications and travel in or out of Sinnoh have ceased."
The room stirred as students began to either panic or make confused murmurs. Callie paled, not looking away from the vice principal as those words rang in her ears.
"...We can't leave?" She muttered, tears filling her eyes. She was meant to go home for the break, to see her mama and papa, to show them how hard she had worked. A small hiccup left her throat as she buried her face into Meowth's fur. "Crookshanks we're stranded."
