WELCOME TO GALAR
Six months have passed since the events of Sword and Shield, and Galar has once again opened its gates for all to participate in the new season of the Pokémon League.
With only a select few receiving an endorsement, these Trainers must travel the region and win all 8 Gym Badges in order to participate in the final tournament as the whole of Galar watches.

It was early in the morning, perhaps too early, as the sun rays barely showed up over the surface of the towering Mt. Coronet. The fog around the Academy at dawn was always a sight to admire, but in the sleepy eyes of Vander, it was an excuse to stay in bed until later in the day. The blonde let out a loud yawn, combining it with some stretching, his back even popped a bit. He blamed this cursed hour, his beauty sleep was far more important than some lowsy assignment, but his promice to Lady Cynthia said otherwise.
That's right, the Pokemon Catching class had gave the assignment of catching one local Water-Type Pokemon and present it to the class, however the condition was to catch a Pokemon by fishing it first, much to lil' Blue's displease. Fishing was on his top 5 most boring activities out there, and coupled with being up before sunrise, he was prone to fall asleep anytime soon.
Good thing he borrowed a fishing rod from the Academy, like hell that he was going to spend money on an item he would barely use. I mean, he already has done that in the past but... Ah well, fishing isn't his forte. He reached the shore of the river and yawned again, placing his backpack and belongnings on the ground before staring in utter silent frustration at the water. He walked towards it and washed his face with some of it, it was cold enough to somewhat wake him up, but not enough to change his mood, at least it tasted good.
Something about the foggy morning made Leon happy. It was spooky and held mystery behind it. He walked along the edge of the lake, his Frillish staying in the shallows and enjoyed her morning swim. Leon chuckled and continued to walk until he saw Vander trying to fish. The two best friends and rivals hadn't seen each other much these days and it was time to have a reunion.
Leon smirked as he silently crept up behind Vander and suddenly placed both hands on his shoulders. "Boo!!" Leon said, trying to scare the crap out of his friend.

Soleil had woken up at his usual hour, only to find his roommate missing. He blinked slowly, and almost drifted back to sleep. He only didn't because even in Azure, he could hear his ma reprimanding him for being lazy. But his new bed was so good... Until he felt an eevee jump on his bed, and then start hopping on him to wake him up. "FINE FINE I'M UP!"
He made his way to the river, soon spotting two figures among the mist. He wondered if they were ghosts. His self conservation instincts said no go away. But everything else said "check it out anyway" and so he did!

As much as the lad despised being up at this hour, he found the river and his surroundings to be easing for the mind, quite peaceful indeed. Gentle and subtle breezes pushed the fog around, with the water barely making any sound and the rare chirp of a bird Pokemon, he could almost savor faling asleep in here, screw that assignment, sleep is much more important.
But Leon's sudden "BOO!" sent down a lightning chill down his spine, springing him upwards with a loud, girly scream and finally ending with a big splash on the river by the shore. His heart raced, wanting to get out of his chest, and in a desperate fashion he quickly got up again and his eyes met the source of his fear.
". . . HEY! WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA?!" He barked out as he walked towards his best friend, spouting steam from his ears. "YOU STUPID...! URRGH!"
He lightly punched his shoulder, cold and annoyed... And red with embarrassment.
Leon paused for a moment as he watched Vander's reaction before he burst out into a loud laughter, holding his sides. Leon rarely laughed or showed much emotion but Vander always made him happy, especially with his girly scream. "Oh my god ahahahaha!!!" He cackled, holding his sides as they began to hurt.
Leon allowed him to punch his shoulder, giggling still before wiping his eyes. "Sorry man haha, you were so in the zone I couldn't resist." He had one last chuckle before calming himself and looking at the fishing gear. "Catch anything interesting? A boot maybe?" He smirked. Queenie, Leon's Frillish, swam over towards the shallows and investigated the fishing line, circling around it a few times before moving away.

He chuckled a bit as well, but then suddenly remembered that he was angry and crossed his arms, looking to the side. "I was about to start but SOMEONE interrupted me!" He sneezed, already feeling the side effects of being in the water so early in the morning.
He pulled out a Pokeball and tossed it, in a flash of blue light his Growlithe Lloyd appeared, dashing like always with a magnificent woof. He sat nearby him and tugged his face against the sparkly fur, warming up almost in an instant, luckily the non-shiny yet sparkly Growlithe did not seem to mind.
"I'm thinking of fishing something big! Like a Wailord! That will leave the teacher speechless, eh?" He winked, getting back to his usual cockiness.

Soleil rubbed the last hints of sleepiness off of his eyes as he approached more and more the two figures- he heard a splash, and then laughter. He didn't think they were ghosts anymore, and got his suspicions confirmed when he saw Vander huggling a growlithe while soaked, and a new boy he didn't know.
"Mornin'" he greeted unceremoniously, hands in his coat pockets. "Got up for an early dip, Vander? You coulda at least took off yer clothes, dummy." He turned his gaze to Leon, nodding at him politely, and then at the funky little pokemon on the river. "'Ey."
Leon raised a brow at Vander wanting to fish out a Wailord with his jankyass looking old rod. "Sure, keep dreaming." He loudly rolled his eyes before looking over at Sol. Leon gave a nod back in greeting before sitting down by the river bank. "With any luck, you'd probably just get a Magikarp or a lovdisc."
He picked up a smooth rock and threw it hard, skipping it across the water a few times before it sank. "I'm Leon by the way" He said to Sol since he didn't remember if the two had met before.

Vander perked his head up as soon as he heard Soleil's voice, yawning a bit as he kept hugging his personal heater named Lloyd. "About time you woke up! You were going to miss the GOOD. STUFF!!" He got up and shook his head wildly so his hair dried up a bit. "Unlike someone, I'M gonna fish something huge today, you'll see." He grinned with an attitude full of himself, not afraid of inflating his already huge ego. His Growlithe barked, sounding majestic... And bored.

The blond farmer nodded back. "Soleil" he simply replied before looking back at Vander and raising a brow. "'Bout time? Ain't I the one that wakes up first?" He rested his arm on Vander's head, being way taller than him, and looking at his fishing rod. "Sorry to tell ya, but I don't think yer catching anythin' showstopping with that. Actually naw, scratch that. With uh... Leon's help, ya might catch a huge cold."
His mouth twitched, then went back to neutral. "Seriously though, I used somethin' like that when I was six. Couldn't ya rent a better one? 'Cause if you do catch somethin' nice and big, it may break.

Vander squinted as soon as Soleil rested his arm on him, and quickly shook it off, frowning. But nonetheless, he smirked and flexed his arms, posing. "That's what I have these for!" He chuckled, feeding his ego more and more, much to Lloyd's amusement.
"You see, relying just on a rod wont get you anywhere, it's the fisher that also does the magic!!!" He picked up the rod and swung it carelessly. "Away we go!!"
In a mighty swing, the line extended to the lake, falling with a quiet and clean splash on the water, he grinned as he squinted, satisfied with his performance.
"See? Eaaasy." Yup. And behind that facade, he was already cursing every second of this activity.
Leon wanted to bet that the rod would break in three seconds but he didn't want to dampen Vander's spirit. He watched as he threw the line far out into the middle of the lake and watched. Nothing seemed to happen so he subtly went over to his Frillish who was happily soaking in the shallows.
"Hey Queenie." He whispered, trying not to get the others attention. "Mind helping my friend out?" The frillish tilted her head but then quickly understood. She looked around before sinking into the water and disappearing. Leon smirked before returning to Vander's side. "Any nibbles?"

"Nice swing." The farmer sat down beside Vander, not taking note of Leon's little help, and took a pokeball from his belt, a little unsure. Then he pressed the button, letting out a small bug-type beside him: Ragnarok, his Venipede.
"Pede?"
"Hey Ragna. Wanna chill?"
"...Pede."
The pokémon lazily laid on its belly, looking off to the lake. It was a very nice sight, even for such a tiny pokemon like that. Soleil also relaxed, not really thinking anything would bite soon, even if there was occasional movement in the water... even some ripples near Vander's fishing rod, which caught his attention.

The blonde stared at the water anxiously, wishing for every cell in his body to not explode due to lack of patience. He was so focused kn fact, that he had not realized that Sol sat beside him to relax.
However, the rod created a slight movement, causing him to perk up and blink. "O-oh! I think I got something!!!" Maybe it was sheer luck, or Leon's Pokemon that did the trick, but none of that mattered, looks like he caught something!
He started to pull, to which the being underwater reacted strongly against to, pulling the rod on its side with mighty strength. It was so powerful indeed, that Vander had to stood up to have a better chance at catching this thing, only to receive a retaliation so strong that it started to pull him near the water as well. "W-whoa!! I'm going to fall!!"
