Stepping out Hulbury Harbor's check-in area, Bryony immediately found herself overwhelmed by her surroundings. While Castelia City was also a port city, the area she mainly stayed in was distant from the bustling of the harbor. Here, however, Hulbury was equal parts harbor and city. She sidled past men in sailors uniforms, no doubt unloading imports from the cargo ship that had docked just after her passenger ship, and ducked under a pair of women who lifted a large crate to a separate cargo ship. She glanced behind them with a half-smile, a bit charmed by the work ethic of the people, until she looked back and found herself in a bustling market place.
"Ice cream! Get your ice cream-!"
"Fresh berries! Just got in from Postwick Farm-!"
"Incense of all kinds! Rose, Marine, you name it-!"
The shouts of vendors from their stalls startled Bryony, who instinctively brushed her hair forward to cover her ears. She hadn't anticipated such an active marketplace in Hulbury, or Galar in that case. Perhaps she had mistaken herself that Kalos' boutique-style shops would have translated to Galar. She chewed the inside of her cheek as a sort of reminder that not all regions on this side of the world acted the same.
Moving forward and sidling through more groups of people, she listened more to the cries of the vendors.
"Treats from Kalos' finest bakeries! Poke Blocks and Poffins, too-!"
"TM's! Loads of 'em, ready to be used-!"
"My purse-!"
Bryony paused as the shrill voice of a young woman rang out over the vendor's sales pitches, stand on tiptoe to look over the heads of the crowd around her.
"Somebody stop them-!"
She turned her head in the direction of the yelling and saw her; a ginger girl, college age she would venture to guess, pointing the opposite way at two men who ran through the market, aiming toward an alley way in what she would guess to be the residential area of the city. A brief smirk tugged her lips upward as she popped the collar of her coat, moving after them and pushing against the crowd.
What a start to the day.
