WELCOME TO GALAR
Six months have passed since the events of Sword and Shield, and Galar has once again opened its gates for all to participate in the new season of the Pokémon League.
With only a select few receiving an endorsement, these Trainers must travel the region and win all 8 Gym Badges in order to participate in the final tournament as the whole of Galar watches.

"Well! No point in worrying about that now don'tcha think?" The blonde shrugged, not really that interested in the matter, getting concerned over things that didn't involve him didn't make much sense to him. He was about to make a comment on his Academy when he saw the couple of Rookidee stare at them in curiosity, it was at that moment that something started to burn inside of him... A sense of adventure... Excitement.
Joy.
"HO- LY- SHIT! WHAT ARE THOSE!" He pulled out his Rotom Phone and gave it a light tap with his finger, almost too quickly to notice. "Get up Dexter! Scan those birds!" He pointed at the Pokemon hastily, his arm almost shaking and the tone of his voice rising up like if he was a small child.
The Rotom lifted itself from Vander's hand and started to float about, leaning a couple of feet forwards before giving out a beep.
"ROOKIDEE, THE TINY BIRD POKEMON. IT WILL BRAVELY CHALLENGE ANY OPPONENT, NO MATTER HOW POWERFUL. THIS POKEMON BENEFITS FROM EVERY BATTLE—EVEN A DEFEAT INCREASES ITS STRENGTH A BIT. SOUNDS LIKE YOU BUT IN BIRD FORM, CAN YOU PUT EGGS AS WELL?"
Vander let out a glare towards his Rotom, who danced around the pair of trainers while snickering menacingly. The blonde made an attempt to reach it by swiping his hands, yelling angry gibberish while at it. Want an example? "I'M GETTING TIRED OF YOUR SNARK YOU HOT ASS APPLE WANNABE MOTHER FUCKER!"

"Ah! Rookidees!" Dom looked between the chirping pokémon and his curious traveling companion trying to kill his Rotom-phone, which made them earn looks from people in Wyndon. "Um, are you gonna catch one, Vander? They're pretty popular, and Corviknight is very reliable when trained properly." Having said that, he dug up a bag of chips from his travel bag, opening it and breaking a chip for the Rookidees.
The small pokemon group happily hopped over to the boys with the offer of food. "I would get one, but i'm not sure if I want to be a battler just yet... And they're definitely more fit for someone who's aiming for the Championship like you."

Vander froze mid pose from his clawing attempt at Dexter when he heard Dominic mention the birds being perfect for a Champion team. As if he had turned into a completely different person, he suddenly composed himself and picked up a Level Ball from his pocket, nodding. "Hmph! Don't underestimate yourself, maybe one of these birds might change that thought... Me though? I'm about to teach you a technique I learned in the Azure Academy, pay attention!!"
He had noticed that Dom got a bag of chips and the birds got instantly distracted by it, he let out a chuckle as he twirled the ball in his hand by using his fingers, then hopped forward and aimed to the bird on the far right before throwing. "Level Ball go!" The ball rocketed from his fingers and flew in the air in a curve towards the Rookidee, remaining a couple of seconds flying before hitting the little birdie in the side and transforming it into energy that got stuffed inside the ball.
After falling on the ground it began shaking a couple of times, Dom could see Vander downright staring directly at its as if he was screaming with his mind to make the Pokemon stay inside. The ball stopped shaking and stars poofed out from it, indicating a successful capture!
Vander kept looking at the ball for exactly one (1) seconds and realized that he had managed to pull his feat off, his face shifted almost in slowmotion from being focused to absolute joy. He let out a jump and screamed in victory as he ran, grabbed the ball and let out a pose. "And THAT'S how you do it! AW YEAH!!"

Watching Vander felt like whiplash, going through his various moods like if they were socks. At the words "pay attention" though, Dominic got off the mental rollercoaster Vander put him on, though, and adjusted his glasses, watching Vander's technique. As soon as the Rookidee was caught, his eyes gleamed too, only to smile when Vander celebrated. "C-congratulations...!" Both teens stared at the pokeball Vander was holding up, Vander's chest likely swelling with pride...
And Dom's eyes getting full of wonder.
"Can you teach me to do that?!" He didn't realize he blurted it out loud until it was too late to take it back. Right, as if someone so cool is gonna want to teach a loser like me... just look at him, he's bursting with life and confidence... I could never be like that...

For a hot minute, Vander glanced back from his interrupted excitement and stared at Dom in utter disgust. Or was it that? Maybe he was zoned out so hard he genuinely didn't catch what he told him, or maybe it was the particular thought of sharing knowledge with a stranger that he had just met. That look in his face was more than enough to kick up the anxiety of someone socially awkward and nervous.
Vander's face switched up almost in the same instant fashion to when it got first, with his cheeks rising up as a smile curved up to showcase his white teeth, even daring to adorn the look with a sassy-looking eyebrow peeking upwards. "Are you kidding? That would be great!" He threw the Level Ball up and down as he grinned adamantly. "Just point me towards where lots of Pokemon appear and I will show you the ropes, you'll be a master in no time!"
