Volkner watched as Shinx was hit with the Hex attack while being engulfed in flames. He blew a little air through his nose.
"Shake it off and use Thunder."
Shinx let out a cry, shaking off the Hex attack after it had already done it's damage. It was breathing hard but wouldn't give up as it's body began to spark out. It released a large burst of electricity towards Litwick.

Shinx was hit by Hex! Took 160 damage.
Shinx used Thunder!

Flick was barely able to stay upright as the thunder struck its body once more, almost paralyzing it completely. "Flick please use all your strength and will to push through, one more Inferno!" Leon begged, his heart racing fast as he watched his little pokemon on the verge of collapsing. Flick wanted to sleep and never come back out but he wanted to make Leon proud. With its remaining strength, it unleashed another wave of blue flames.

As the hexed flames twirled through the air directly towards Shinx, Volkner jolted out his palm with a grunt. "Get out of there now, Shinx!" Exclaimed Volkner. Shinx was clearly exhausted, and the swirling flames around his body from the status effect only made that worse.

The Pokémon braced itself with a growl under his breath as the blue flames were about to hit with a climax, but just seconds before they could reach his thick fur coat, Shinx jolted into the air with a push from his back legs that caused the Inferno attack to distinguish on the battlefield.

"Now hit it with a Crunch attack whilst you're in the air!" Ordered Volkner as he waved his hand down.

The Shinx's eyes gleamed down towards the Litwick as its mouth radiated a dark aura and its body flung down to attack.

Shinx avoided Inferno! No damage was taken
Shinx used Crunch! Damage if hit: 128 x 2 = 256
Shinx HP: 69
Dodges Used: [2/2]
(Bonus effect: 20% chance of lowering Sp. Defense by one stage)

Flick flames swarmed into and collided and for a moment he thought he hit but Shinx had taken to the air and Leon only just caught sight of the pokemon. "Flick above you! Dodge!" He called out. His litwick yelped and moved out of the way, watching Shinx bite down on where he would have been. "Heat wave!" Leon called out, trying to save his pokemon from his opponent's jaws.

The tiny litwick pushed out the remaining hot air from its tiny flame to knock away the Shinx.

Shinx's HP fell to 0! Shinx fainted.

Shinx let out a harsh cry as its body was momentarily engulfed in the flames before being tossed along the ground. Volkner rubbed the back of his neck with a sharp grunt and withdrew his Pokéball. "You battled well, Shinx. Get plenty of rest now."

The red laser light consumed the Shinx's body before sealing it inside the ball for Volkner to tuck back into his jacket pocket. He then reached behing him to pick up a small yellow disk and a badge, and then he moved over to Leon. "Hmph. It seems you did improve since last time, so you'll be rewarded these," He held out both the TM Thunder and the gym badge for Leon to take, and then he nodded lightly.

"You'll also be given 15BP that will be placed into your account soon. Good luck in your journey to the League." He said bluntly.

Leon defeated Volkner and earned the Beacon Badge!

Leon watched as his Litwick released the last of his strength and knocked the Shinx to the ground, confirming that they had won. The small little candle wobbled but let out a cry of victory. Leon rushed over to his pokemon, scooping him up with a huge smile on his face. "YOU DID IT!!!!!" He was so proud of his pokemon, amazed that not only did Flick beat Elekid but took out Shinx all by himself.

Leon shed a tear before Volkner presented him with his badge. "Thank you" He took the badge and smiled happily. As he walked towards the door, Litwick suddenly shone brightly and began to morph. The form floated out of his arms and into the air, spinning around before the light burst. There floating in the air was Flick as a Lampent.

"Laaaam!"

Leon loudly let out a scream of joy and possibility scaring Volkner in the process.
