Battle Heart
It was late in the afternoon in the prestigious Azure Academy, the sunrays were beginning to fall dim as the day was about to reach an end, the blossoms of Spring easing up and resting for the incoming night, the flocks of Starly flying in the distance to reach their nests and feed their younglings, the usual busy activity of the students slowly decayed as everyone was ready to go back to their dorms and sleep for the rest of the night. Some students stayed behind to admire the scenery, others to take advantage of the sunlight and enjoy the fresh air as the read a book or worked on scholar activities, a few more dedicated themselves to their Pokemon or even battling. Among this relative large group, Vander was among the people who was not ready to call it a day yet.
He rode his skateboard on the concrete street as he reached his favorite spot in the academy: a viewpoint in top of a hill that let you see the entire facility and some of the landmarks nearby, a breath-taking view for sure. It wasn’t completely secluded, but at these hours it was almost empty and it was the perfect place to train. Once he arrived, he placed his belongings on one of the two benches and stretched out for a bit, yawning.
“Alright, roll call!” He threw his Poke Balls up in the air.
Ptcheww!!
In a blue flash, his entire team manifested in front of him, all of them sporting good spirits and good health. The trainer called them out, as if making a list with a grin with both arms crossed.
“Soma!”
The Dewott saluted his partner. “Dewd!!”
“Cid!”
The Hitmontop nodded. “Montop!”
“Lloyd!”
Sparkling as he did a hair flip, the Growlithe barked. “Woof~”
“Daruk!”
Little Phanpy lifted his trunk and cried out with glee. “Phaan!”
“Montblanc!”
The shiny Pikachu scratched one of his ears and lifted a paw. “Pika >w<!!”
“And Rubber!”
The Farfetch’d though, was focused on the scenery, he saw the scenery and the Starly flying away with a powerful stare, not listening to his trainer at all.
“Rubber? Hey! Bird brain!!” The blonde called out, snapping in annoyance, to which the duck jolted in surprise as he returned back to the real world.
“QUACK!!” He snapped back, red from the short tempered anger.
Once the roll call had ended, Vander calmed down and grinned back at his team. “ALLLROIGHT! Listen up! We have been working extra hard with our training, we have been learning new moves and things thanks to these classes in the academy, and with these strategy books in the library, we even have developed our own tactics! We have been trying really hard, and you all deserve to be praised for it!!”
The team cheered on, aware that they have been going through an unorthodox type of training, but the results have been incredible. Ever since Soma got himself injured, Vander made sure to ask his teachers for pointers and ways to take care of his Pokemon much better, and of course, train them better, and the improvement clearly showed that.
“We can take on whoever wants to deal with us! We are invincible, the best of the elite! We will become champions in no time for sure!!!” He kept going, inflating his ego and the team morale, and it worked as they cheered on again. “And what’s best, we are now going to see Lady Cynthia to update her! Maybe she will see our progress and let us have more hours for us to train!”
The team cheered on again, it has been months when Vander first arrived here, almost a year… But the growth was incredible.
